While reading Frankenstein i connected to a few different themes and ideas one of them being that we all must take responsibility for our actions, most learn this as a child but Victor didn't learn this lesson until he was an older man. Secondly i connected with the idea that sometime when you're doing something it feels good and right but then a pause comes and you are standing there and realize you've done something terrible. Victor realizes his terrible mistake when he finishes the monster and regrets the mistake for the whole rest of the story. Lastly I'd like to connect to the theme of togetherness, Victor normally seeks solitude and doesn't welcome others into his life very well whilst the monster is trying to do the exact opposite, the monster knows that being alone is terrible and miserable, i think everyone can connect to this because sometime we want to shut out the world when everyone seems like a vulture trying to get in and other times we want people to help and care for us when there is no one
Ariana Weir: After reading Frankenstein, I can see that there are some elements of the text that I can connect to myself. While it is hard to believe that I would have any similarities with Frankenstein and his monster, there are a few things that I value as much as they do. For example, Victor Frankenstein values family, the monster does too in his own way, and I agree with him in that family is an important thing to have to rely on and so is being loved and being a part of something. I also believe that I am like Victor when looking at work ethic. Victor studies a lot as a scientist and never gives up on the creation of his monster. I work hard as a student on assignments and while studying for tests because I know there will be a good outcome in the end. In the middle of the book, Frankenstein’s monster, who does not know how to do anything, observes a poor family for a long time, gradually picking up on speech and social cues. I also believe that you can learn a lot by observing others and understanding what they are doing and why they do it. I can relate Frankenstein to myself even though it is only a book with many weird concepts that do not often happen in everyday life.
Vera White: While I read Frankenstein, I made a couple connections to my life and compared to the book overall. I think that the theme of togetherness throughout Frankenstein can be similar to my life because I enjoy being surrounded by family and wanting to be around friends too. For example, I can understand why the monster was so upset that no one wanted to be with him, only because he just wanted to be loved and have friends. The fact that it wasn’t even his fault that he was feeling this way just because Victor had created him, made him want to have people like him even more. I also think that Frankenstein can be connected to my life because Victor Frankenstein made the mistake of creating the monster, because he wanted to try something new but didn’t know how bad it was going to be.I have made many mistakes throughout my life, and I never know if they have a good or bad outcome, which is what happened to Victor. He kept on going with his creation, yet not knowing that it would turn into a huge mistake for everyone around him. I think that sometimes you have to make mistakes in life to lead you on the right path to success.
